I Have Compassion - Part 1
Mark 8:1-3

1 In those days, when again a great crowd had
gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called
his disciples to him and said to them,
2 ``I have compassion on the crowd, because they
have been with me now three days and have nothing
to eat.
3 And if I send them away hungry to their homes,
they will faint on the way. And some of them have
come from far away.'' (ESV)
For the next several weeks our readings will focus on the
righteousness of faith, how we receive and reflect God's love to
one another. God is gracious, kind, and merciful, calling us to
repentance and providing for our salvation through the death and
resurrection of Jesus.
This week's prayer recognizes that all good things come from
God. Even when we have problems and setbacks, we know that our
heavenly Father will use all things for the good of those who
trust in Him.
O God, whose never-failing providence orders all things
both in heaven and earth, we humbly implore You to put
away from us all hurtful things and to give us those
things that are profitable for us; through Jesus
Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with
You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
We see God's love in action, not only for our salvation from
sin and death, but as He gives us everything we need to support
this body and life.

This week we will explore how God's love and compassion are
not just for the big things in life, not just when we are looking
at death and destruction, but for the little things as well.
May our Lord grant us faith to recognize His compassion so
that we may fully trust in Him. Amen.
