The Light of Truth - Part 4
John 16:21

21 When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow
because her hour has come, but when she has
delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the
anguish, for joy that a human being has been born
into the world. (ESV)
Some of the most joyful times in our lives come after an
agonizing wait. As we wait, we work to be ready for the day the
goal is accomplished. Because the waiting is hard, we may want
to give up, to simply stop pursuing the goal. We pray for those
who have grown tired of waiting for Christ. We pray for those
who have been taught something other than God's Word.
Almighty God, You show those in error the light of Your
truth so that they may return to the way of
righteousness. Grant faithfulness to all who are
admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Church that
they may avoid whatever is contrary to their confession
and follow all such things as are pleasing to You.
Jesus was aware of the disciples' discontent, confusion, and
questions. He told them: ``When a woman is giving birth, she has
sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the
baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human
being has been born into the world.''
The struggle, the pain, the perils are real, but so are the
joys. We may suffer persecution, ridicule, or be denied
friendships because of our faith in Christ Jesus. Yet, we have
the promise of eternal life because our sins are forgiven for His
sake.
May our Lord keep us faithful through the problems of this
life until we come to the eternal joys of heaven. Amen.
