Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Knowing the Truth - Part 1\n John 8:31-32\n 10\/26\/2026\n\n\n 31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ``If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,\n 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'' (ESV)\n\n This coming Saturday, the eve of All Saints' Day, the Lutheran Church celebrates the Reformation. This is the day, in 1517, that Luther posted his 95 Theses concerning salvation and doctrine upon the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. He desired not to create a new church body, but to rid the Roman Catholic Church of false doctrine and practice.\n\n We can summarize the Reformation in several simple statements. Salvation from sin, death, and the power of the devil is by God's grace alone, through faith alone, as revealed in the Scriptures alone, for the sake of Christ Jesus alone.\n\n So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ``If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.''\n\n\n The Reformation is about rediscovering the truth of the Bible without adding other sources such as tradition or human logic. This week we will look at the Reformation teachings to discover the truth of God's undeserved love.\n\n Therefore we pray:\n Almighty and gracious Lord, pour out Your Holy Spirit on Your faithful people. Keep us steadfast in Your grace and truth, protect and deliver us in times of temptation, defend us against all enemies, and grant to Your Church Your saving peace; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.\n\n\n May our Lord grant you the peace of knowing your sins are forgiven for the sake of Christ Jesus.
