Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Memorial Day\n Hebrews 12:1-2\n 05\/25\/2026\n\n\n 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a\n cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every\n weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let\n us run with endurance the race that is set before\n us,\n 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our\n faith, who for the joy that was set before him\n endured the cross, despising the shame, and is\n seated at the right hand of the throne of God.\n (ESV)\n\n The author of Hebrews reminds us:\n Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud\n of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and\n sin which clings so closely, and let us run with\n endurance the race that is set before us, looking to\n Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for\n the joy that was set before him endured the cross,\n despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of\n the throne of God.\n\n\n On this Memoral Day, we pray for our nation and give glory\n to God for all His blessings even as we remember those who gave\n their lives to preserve our freedoms.\n Gracious Lord, heavenly Father, on this day we pause to\n remember the sacrifices made for freedom throughout the\n past centuries. We do indeed owe a debt of gratitude to\n those who have paid dearly for the liberty we enjoy.\n Yet, O Lord, we know that good government, peace, and\n freedom are really gifts granted from Your fatherly\n hand, as we confess in the Creed. As we remember those\n who have served our nation, help us to remember that\n civic duty, no matter how well done, does not grant\n entrance to Your kingdom. We are saved by grace,\n through faith in Christ, apart from our works. Freed\n from the Law's demands, we know that we are now free to\n serve our neighbors for our neighbor's sake. May the\n sacrifices of those who have gone before us serve as\n examples. When we meet those who have served, remind\n us to thank them. Almighty God, guide the leaders of\n our nation. Watch over those who serve in our armed\n forces, especially those far from home. And above all,\n grant that we, Your children by faith in Christ, may\n find a field of service in which we, as salt and\n leaven, may uphold righteousness, order, and peace in\n Jesus' name.
