Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Food for Thought - Part 5\n John 6:12-13\n 03\/20\/2026\n\n\n 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his\n disciples, ``Gather up the leftover fragments,\n that nothing may be lost.''\n 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets\n with fragments from the five barley loaves, left\n by those who had eaten. (ESV)\n\n Sunday's Gospel lesson was Saint John's account of the\n feeding of the 5,000 men, plus women and children.\n And when they had eaten their fill, he told his\n disciples, ``Gather up the leftover fragments, that\n nothing may be lost.'' So they gathered them up and\n filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five\n barley loaves, left by those who had eaten.\n\n\n God blesses us well beyond our needs. What seemed to be so\n little, fives loaves of bread and two fish, was enough to feed\n 5,000 men, plus women and children. They were filled, yet the\n disciples gathered twelve large baskets of leftovers.\n\n Jesus gives us of His body and blood in and under the bread\n and wine of the Lord's Supper. For two thousand years this\n heavenly food has nourished the Church, and there is enough to\n last through all eternity.\n\n Last Sunday the Church prayed:\n Almighty God, our heavenly Father, Your mercies are new\n every morning; and though we deserve only punishment,\n You receive us as Your children and provide for all our\n needs of body and soul. Grant that we may heartily\n acknowledge Your merciful goodness, give thanks for all\n Your benefits, and serve You in willing obedience.\n\n\n This miracle gives us food for thought. Please join us at\n Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. as we\n ponder more about God's abundant goodness, love, and mercy as\n given to us through Christ Jesus.\n\n May our Lord grant that we find our life in Him, both\n physically and for all eternity.
