Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Going to Jerusalem - Part 3\n Luke 18:32-33\n 02\/18\/2026\n\n\n 32 For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and\n will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit\n upon.\n 33 And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on\n the third day he will rise. (ESV)\n\n Today, the first day of Lent, we pray:\n Almighty and everlasting God, You despise nothing You\n have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent.\n Create in us new and contrite hearts that lamenting our\n sins and acknowledging our wretchedness we may receive\n from You full pardon and forgiveness; through Jesus\n Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with\n You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.\n\n\n The excesses of Mardi Gras yesterday lead to the repentance\n of Ash Wednesday. Today many people will wear the ashes which\n symbolize our sinful nature. As the ashes are applied, the\n pastor intones, ``Ashes to ashes, dust to dust'' to remind us of\n the wages of sin.\n\n Yet, even today, as we confess our sins, we have hope.\n Jesus told His disciples:\n For [the Son of Man] will be delivered over to the\n Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and\n spit upon. And after flogging him, they will kill him,\n and on the third day he will rise.\n\n\n The torture and death of the sinless Son of God paid the\n price of our transgressions. Because of the cross of Jesus,\n because of His empty tomb, we have the assurance of the\n forgiveness of our sins.\n\n Please join us this evening at Trinity Lutheran Church as we\n begin the season of Lent with confession, absolution, and the\n Word of God.\n\n May our Lord grant you a blessed Lent as you come to learn\n of God's rich love, grace, and mercy.
