Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Baptism of Our Lord - Part 1\n Matthew 3:13-15\n 01\/12\/2026\n\n\n 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to\n John, to be baptized by him.\n 14 John would have prevented him, saying, ``I need to\n be baptized by you, and do you come to me?''\n 15 But Jesus answered him, ``Let it be so now, for\n thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all\n righteousness.'' Then he consented. (ESV)\n\n Last Sunday we prayed:\n Father in heaven, at the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan\n River You proclaimed Him Your beloved Son and anointed\n Him with the Holy Spirit. Make all who are baptized in\n His name faithful in their calling as Your children and\n inheritors with Him of everlasting life; through the\n same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and\n reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,\n\n\n In the Epiphany season we see Jesus, who is true man,\n revealed as the Son of God. Nowhere is this more clear than in\n the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptizer at the Jordan River.\n Saint Matthew recorded:\n Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to\n be baptized by him. John would have prevented him,\n saying, ``I need to be baptized by you, and do you come\n to me?'' But Jesus answered him, ``Let it be so now,\n for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all\n righteousness.'' Then he consented.\n\n\n John was the forerunner of the Christ, proclaiming,\n ``Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.'' He called\n people to recognize their sin, to confess their sin, and to flee\n to God's infinite mercy. However, John recognized Jesus as being\n sinless, as having no need of repentance.\n\n By being baptized, Jesus willingly took upon Himself the\n sins of all people. He was anointed both by the water and the\n Holy Spirit to become our Redeemer from sin and death.\n\n May our Lord grant that we recognize that Jesus was baptized\n for our salvation.
