Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Feast - Part 5\n Luke 14:11\n 10\/17\/2025\n\n 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,\n and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (ESV)\n\n Jesus was invited to a Sabbath dinner at the home of a ruler\n of the Pharisees. He told a parable about a wedding feast,\n giving the advise to not seek the place of honor, but a place of\n humility. This advise was not only about a banquet, not only\n about dealing with others, but about our relationship with God.\n\n ``For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he\n who humbles himself will be exalted.''\n\n Each Sunday we confess our sins, that we are by nature\n sinful and unclean. In this confession, we pray for God's grace\n and mercy for the sake of the suffering, death, and resurrection\n of Jesus Christ as the atoning sacrifice for all our\n transgressions. It is very hard to be prideful and arrogant when\n you confess that you have failed to obey God and to love your\n neighbor. You do what is wrong, you don't do what is right.\n That is very humbling.\n\n Yet the Church is not for the person who believes they are\n perfect, that they are worthy of God's rich and abundant\n blessings. The Church is for the humble tax collector who beats\n his chest saying, ``God, be merciful to me, the sinner.''\n\n Jesus Christ says to all who trust in Him alone for\n redemption from sin and eternal death, ``Friend, come up\n higher.'' How can you not desire to hear the good news of God's\n grace, love, and mercy? Your sins are forgiven for the sake of\n Christ Jesus.
