Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Seek First - Part 1\n Matthew 6:24\n 09\/29\/2025\n\n 24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will\n hate the one and love the other, or he will be\n devoted to the one and despise the other. You\n cannot serve God and money. (ESV)\n\n Sometimes we miss the most obvious truth because the truth\n is so fundamental. What is most important to you? As we answer\n that question, we tend to think of family or recognition or other\n things which bring happiness and contentment. On the other hand,\n we forget that if you can't breathe, family and recognition and\n the win \/ loss record of your favorite football team are\n meaningless.\n\n This week's Gospel lesson asks us to set priorities, asks us\n to determine where we invest our resources. As we ponder the\n words Jesus spoke as recorded by Matthew, we do so remembering\n that God gave us His law out of love.\n\n Jesus said:\n No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate\n the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to\n the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and\n money.\n\n\n This is a practical application of the First Commandment,\n ``You shall have no other gods before me.'' Why should we fear,\n love, and trust in God above all things? How does trusting in\n Him bring us joy? Isn't God demanding, doesn't His law restrict\n us from doing things which otherwise we would enjoy?\n\n This week we will examine Jesus' teaching to learn that His\n Word is not only true, but the best advice we can receive to live\n in harmony with God and neighbor.\n\n May our Lord grant us faith to hear and trust in His holy\n Word.
