Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Cured - Part 4\n Luke 17:15-18\n 09\/25\/2025\n\n 15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed,\n turned back, praising God with a loud voice;\n 16 and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him\n thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.\n 17 Then Jesus answered, ``Were not ten cleansed?\n Where are the nine?\n 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God\n except this foreigner?'' (ESV)\n\n While Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem, ten lepers cried out\n to Him for mercy, for healing from their dread disease. While\n they followed Jesus' instruction to show themselves to the\n priests, they were cured.\n Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed,\n turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he\n fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now\n he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, ``Were not\n ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to\n return and give praise to God except this foreigner?''\n\n\n Let's talk about the leprosy of sin. The first sin was not\n about eating the forbidden fruit, but about being like God, about\n replacing God. Because we are born with this sin, we are by\n nature selfish, demanding, and arrogant. After all, if we are\n like God, if we are God, we deserve everything good. If we are\n in control, the gifts and kindness given to us are our right and\n are owed to us.\n\n The nine lepers who did not return to thank Jesus were part\n of the chosen people, the children of Israel. They accepted the\n cure as something God owed them. Not so the Samaritan. He\n immediately turned back to thank Jesus, who he praised as God,\n for His grace and mercy.\n\n As we confess our sin, we confess that we are not in\n control. We either are overwhelmed by our lack of hope, or we\n find our cure in Christ Jesus.\n\n May our Lord grant us faith to thank Him for His rich gift\n of forgiveness and life everlasting.
