                         Coming Home - Part 5\n                              Luke 15:24\n                              07\/11\/2025\n\n\n        24   `` `For this my son was dead, and is alive again;\n             he was lost, and is found.'  And they began to\n             celebrate.''  (ESV)\n\n        The parable of the Prodigal Son is a story of Law and\n   Gospel, of sin and redemption.  Saint Paul wrote, ``For the wages\n   of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in\n   Christ Jesus our Lord.''[1]\n\n        In this parable, the Father of the story certainly is our\n   heavenly Father.  The son who wasted the Father's gifts is each\n   sinner, each person who has strayed from God's love.\n\n        As the young son saw the poverty of sin and the lack of hope\n   and comfort given by the world, he longed for the grace of God.\n   You and I, without knowing the Father's love, seek our peace in\n   all sorts of destructive ways.  It could be substance abuse, or\n   reckless behavior, or seeking peace through hard work and having\n   lots of toys.  In the end, however, the things of this world do\n   not satisfy.\n\n        We were dead in the trespass of our sins, as we learned from\n   the mirror of God's Law.  Repenting, we throw ourselves on the\n   Lord's mercy and grace, finding there full redemption and pardon.\n   Forgiven, we are alive in Christ.\n\n        The Father told His servents, `` `For this my son was dead,\n   and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.'  And they began\n   to celebrate.''\n\n        Please come home, the Father is waiting and desires to\n   restore you to His family.  Come hear the word of hope, receive\n   the comfort of the Gospel, as you are invited to join us each\n   Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.  May our\n   Lord grant you the peace of knowing your sins are forgiven and\n   that you are part of the Father's family.  Amen.<\/code><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
