Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Coming Home - Part 1\n Luke 15:11-13\n 07\/07\/2025\n\n\n 11 And [Jesus] said, ``There was a man who had two\n sons.\n 12 And the younger of them said to his father,\n `Father, give me the share of property that is\n coming to me.' And he divided his property between\n them.\n 13 Not many days later, the younger son gathered all\n he had and took a journey into a far country, and\n there he squandered his property in reckless\n living.'' (ESV)\n\n In these early weeks of the second half of the Church Year,\n we look at the fundamental teachings of the Church. Most basic\n is the forgiveness of our sins because of God's rich grace and\n love alone. The parable of the Prodigal Son tells us of our\n sinful nature and of God's mercy.\n\n And [Jesus] said, ``There was a man who had two sons.\n And the younger of them said to his father, `Father,\n give me the share of property that is coming to me.'\n And he divided his property between them. Not many\n days later, the younger son gathered all he had and\n took a journey into a far country, and there he\n squandered his property in reckless living.''\n\n\n The situation is simple. We have been raised in God's\n presence, probably going to worship services each Sunday morning.\n American society is built on Christian principles, although we\n are certainly not all Christians. We hold to the Ten\n Commandments and have at least a passing idea of who Jesus is,\n the One born to die and rise again to redeem us from eternal\n death.\n\n But, thinking that we know better than God, we leave the\n church, we turn our backs on His love, and misuse all His\n blessing. This is the effect of original sin, the desire to be\n like God, the desire to replace God, the desire to serve our own\n selfish wants and whims.\n\n This week we will see the result of leaving God's home and\n the joy of knowing the Father's love.\n\n May our Lord grant you His richest blessings this coming\n week.
