Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n A Little While - Part 1\n John 16:16-18\n 05\/12\/2025\n\n\n 16 ``A little while, and you will see me no longer;\n and again a little while, and you will see me.''\n 17 So some of his disciples said to one another,\n ``What is this that he says to us, `A little\n while, and you will not see me, and again a little\n while, and you will see me'; and, ``because I am\n going to the Father?'''\n 18 So they were saying, ``What does he mean by `a\n little while'? We do not know what he is talking\n about.'' (ESV)\n\n During the forty-nine days of the Easter Season, the Church\n focuses on Jesus' words of comfort which He gave His disciples on\n the night He was betrayed. We are preparing for His Ascension\n where He is no longer visibly present. The Gospel reading for\n this week, part of the conversation Jesus had with His disciples\n as they walked from the upper room to the Garden of Gethsemane,\n speaks both of Jesus' death and resurrection, and His Ascension.\n\n ``A little while, and you will see me no longer; and\n again a little while, and you will see me.'' So some\n of his disciples said to one another, ``What is this\n that he says to us, `A little while, and you will not\n see me, and again a little while, and you will see me';\n and, ``because I am going to the Father?''' So they\n were saying, ``What does he mean by `a little while'?\n We do not know what he is talking about.''\n\n\n Within a few short minutes, Jesus would be met in the Garden\n by Judas and the Temple guards. There He would be forcibly taken\n away from the disciples, tortured, crucified, and buried. For\n three days the disciples could not see their Lord, for He was in\n the tomb.\n\n Even at this point of Jesus' time on earth, His disciples\n expected that Jesus would restore the temporal kingdom of David\n and Solomon. They did not know, they did not understand, that\n Jesus' kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, an eternal kingdom which\n is not of this world.\n\n This week we will examine Jesus' words, finding hope even in\n the turmoil of our own days.\n\n May our Lord grant you the joy of knowing your sins are\n forgiven for the sake of Jesus Christ.
