Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Woof - Part 2\n Matthew 15:21-23a\n 03\/18\/2025\n\n\n 21 And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the\n district of Tyre and Sidon.\n 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region\n came out and was crying, ``Have mercy on me, O\n Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely\n oppressed by a demon.''\n 23 But he did not answer her a word.\n\n Jesus had been teaching around Jerusalem and Judea, much to\n the dismay of the scribes and Pharisees. They had grown a bit\n argumentative, making it difficult for Jesus to teach His\n disciples. Matthew recorded:\n And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the\n district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite\n woman from that region came out and was crying, ``Have\n mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is\n severely oppressed by a demon.'' But he did not answer\n her a word.\n\n\n There are times that we pray and it seems that God is simply\n not listening. Did Jesus hear the Canaanite woman? Why did He\n remain silent?\n\n We believe, teach, and confess that God hears each of our\n prayers. He answers each one, many times not in the way we\n desire, but in the way that is most appropriate. Sometimes, to\n strengthen our faith or to give an example of faith to others,\n that answer might be delayed.\n\n Because we do not know the unintended consequences of our\n prayers, we ask God for temporal blessings only according to His\n will. His answer of ``yes'' may, in fact, be inappropriate,\n causing more harm than good. We don't know, so we make our\n request in faith.\n\n May our Lord grant us faith to trust in Him, to hold firmly\n to His promise of forgiveness and everlasting life, even when He\n seems to be silent.
