What might seem to be God's indifference and opposition\n may, in fact, be a blessing not only for the one who prays, but\n for all people.\n\n And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the\n district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite\n woman from that region came out and was crying, ``Have\n mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is\n severely oppressed by a demon.'' But he did not answer\n her a word. And his disciples came and begged him,\n saying, ``Send her away, for she is crying out after\n us.'' He answered, ``I was sent only to the lost sheep\n of the house of Israel.'' But she came and knelt\n before him, saying, ``Lord, help me.'' And he\n answered, ``It is not right to take the children's\n bread and throw it to the dogs.'' She said, ``Yes,\n Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from\n their masters' table.'' Then Jesus answered her, ``O\n woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you\n desire.'' And her daughter was healed instantly.\n\n\n What are the lessons we should learn from this event in\n Jesus' life? Does God indeed answer our prayers? Why can we\n boldly ask Him for both spiritual and temporal blessings. That\n is the topic for this week.\n\n May our Lord grant us faith to trust in Him even when He\n seems to be silent.
