Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Temptation - Part 1\n Matthew 4:1\n 03\/10\/2025\n\n\n 1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the\n wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (ESV)\n\n There is a difference between testing and temptation. A\n test is a situation which God allows with the intention of\n revealing our loyalties, motivations, character, or trust in Him.\n A temptation is an enticement to sin, to disobey God's Word, to\n go against that which we know to be the correct action.\n\n Saint Matthew recorded Jesus' baptism.\n And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up\n from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to\n him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a\n dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice\n from heaven said, ``This is my beloved Son, with whom I\n am well pleased.''\n\n Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness\n to be tempted by the devil.[1]\n\n\n Immediately after being baptized, anointed as the Lamb of\n God who takes away the sins of the world, Jesus went into the\n wilderness. As the Savior, He had to keep the Law perfectly on\n our behalf. He had to expose and defeat the lies of the devil,\n the world, and our own sinful flesh while remaining faithful to\n God the Father.\n\n Jesus, as true man, suffered every temptation we suffer.\n Jesus, as true God, overcame the enticement to sin, the\n enticement to take the forbidden fruit, no matter how delicious\n it might be, no matter how giving in to temptation might bring\n Him temporal power and glory.\n\n This week we will be looking at the temptation of Jesus to\n learn of His power over sin and death. May our Lord grant that\n we be not led into temptation but delivered from all evil. Amen.\n ____________________\n\n 1.
