Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Baptism of Our Lord - Part 5\n Matthew 3:17\n 01\/16\/2025\n\n\n 17 And behold, a voice from heaven said, \"This is my\n beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.\" (ESV)\n\n When Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan River, He\n accepted the task of redeeming all people from sin, death, and\n the power of the devil. He was anointed with the water as the\n Word of God, as one who speaks on behalf of the Father. This is\n the office of prophet. He was anointed as one who offers\n prayers, sacrifices, and intercessions of behalf of all people.\n This is the office of priest. He was anointed as one who rules\n over all of creation, over the church, and over heaven. This is\n the office of King.\n\n At His baptism, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit\n descended on Jesus in the form of a dove. The Father was also\n present. \"And behold, a voice from heaven said, `This is my\n beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.'\"\n\n All three Persons of the Trinity accepted the coming\n sacrifice of the Son of God upon the cross for the redemption of\n all sinners. All three Persons of the Trinity are present when\n we are baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus.\n\n The theme of the Epiphany Season in the Church Year is the\n revealing of the true man, Jesus, as the true Son of God.
