Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The End - Part 3\n Isaiah 65:21-23\n 11\/27\/2024\n\n\n 21 They shall build houses and inhabit them; they\n shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.\n 22 They shall not build and another inhabit; they\n shall not plant and another eat; for like the days\n of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my\n chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.\n 23 They shall not labor in vain or bear children for\n calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the\n blessed of the LORD, and their descendants with\n them. (ESV)\n\n What is heaven like? Isaiah, writing 700 years before the\n birth of Jesus, is trying to describe that which truly is\n indescribable. He talks of the death of death, of the end of\n suffering and disasters. He can only use words and pictures\n which are familiar to his readers.\n\n The children of Israel had been nomads with no permanent\n dwellings. Throughout the history of their country they fought\n wars to preserve their land. Isaiah wrote of the coming exile in\n Babylon where, for seventy years, the Jewish people would be\n strangers in a strange land.\n\n What comfort could Isaiah bring to a people who knew well\n the changes and chances of this life? What comfort can he bring\n you?\n They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall\n plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not\n build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and\n another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days\n of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the\n work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain or\n bear children for calamity, for they shall be the\n offspring of the blessed of the LORD, and their\n descendants with them.\n\n\n The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Salvation\n from sin, death, and the power of the devil is not something that\n we earn, but is given for the sake of our Lord's suffering,\n death, and resurrection.
