Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Serve the LORD - Part 1\n Deuteronomy 10:12-13\n 09\/30\/2024\n\n\n 12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God\n require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to\n walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the\n LORD\n 13 your God with all your heart and with all your\n soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of\n the LORD, which I am commanding you today for your\n good? (ESV)\n\n This week's Old Testament lesson from the book of\n Deuteronomy summarizes the First Commandment which Moses received\n from the hand of God. There are four questions we will ask this\n week: What is a god? Who is your god? Who is the Triune God?\n Why should we serve Him?\n\n Moses spoke to the children of Israel as they prepared to\n enter the land of Canaan. Because Moses had dishonored God in\n frustration with the people, he would not be allowed to go with\n them, but was preparing to pass the leadership to Joshua and be\n gathered to his ancestors. The book of Deuteronomy is\n essentially the last will and testament of Moses. He instructed\n the people:\n And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of\n you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his\n ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all\n your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the\n commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I am\n commanding you today for your good?\n\n\n What is a god? We all have them, even if we are not\n religious. A god is something you trust, something from which\n you expect all good, something or someone to whom you will go in\n times of danger or distress. Everyone trusts something, everyone\n firmly believes there is help in times of trouble. Tomorrow we\n will identify some of the gods we worship.\n\n May our Lord grant us faith to know and understand His love\n and mercy.
