(ESV)\n\n        Isaiah, seeing God upon His throne in heaven, was aware of\n   his guilt and sin.  All he could say was, ``Woe is me! For I am\n   lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of\n   a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the\n   LORD of hosts!''  Yet, as Saint John later wrote, ``If we say we\n   have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.\n   If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our\n   sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.''\n\n        Isaiah told of God's rich love, grace, and mercy.  He spoke\n   of the forgiveness of sins, the Word of God mediated through a\n   messenger of the Most High, the LORD of Hosts.\n        Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand\n        a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the\n        altar.  And he touched my mouth and said: ``Behold,\n        this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away,\n        and your sin atoned for.''\n\n\n        This is the message of the Church.  The Father who created\n   us sent His only-begotten Son to bear the price of our guilt by\n   dying on the cross and rising again.  The Holy Spirit, who\n   proceeds from the Father and the Son makes us holy in God's sight\n   by giving us the benefit of Jesus' death and resurrection as He\n   creates and sustains the faith which holds to God's grace and\n   mercy.  Like Isaiah, we hear that our sins are forgiven, that is\n   is atoned for by the blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
