{"id":1785,"date":"2024-04-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/trinityslayton.info\/?p=1785"},"modified":"2024-04-28T19:52:50","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T00:52:50","slug":"o-sing-unto-the-lord-part-1-april-29-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/trinityslayton.info\/index.php\/2024\/04\/29\/o-sing-unto-the-lord-part-1-april-29-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"O Sing Unto the Lord &#8212; Part 1:  April 29, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/trinityslayton.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/Recordings\/Trinity_20240429.mp3\">Broadcast<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>                     O Sing Unto the Lord - Part 1\n                              Isaiah 12:1\n                              04\/29\/2024\n\n\n        1    You will say in that day: I will give thanks to\n             you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me,\n             your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.\n             (ESV)\n\n        The Sundays following Easter are named for the first word of\n   the Introit, the Psalm sung by the faithful entering the church.\n   Last Sunday was named ``Cantate,'' ``Sing,'' from Psalm 98.  ``O\n   sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done marvelous things.''\n\n        What is this song of the faithful, the song of praise and\n   thanksgiving?  What are the marvelous things accomplished by the\n   LORD our God?  For the answer to these questions, we turn to the\n   prophet Isaiah and his first song of praise.\n        You will say in that day: I will give thanks to you, O\n        LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger\n        turned away, that you might comfort me.\n\n\n        As you remember, Isaiah was the prophet who called the\n   children of Israel to repent, showing them their sins.  He also\n   told them of God's wrath, of the seventy years they would spend\n   as exiles in Babylon.  Yet, in spite of being torn from their\n   land, removed from Jerusalem, God would restore them to this land\n   of promise.\n\n        This song of praise also is fitting for those who have\n   sinned against God and neighbor, but have received the comfort of\n   the forgiveness of their sins.  This ultimate comfort comes not\n   from possessing a particular plot of ground, but from receiving\n   the redemption from sin and death earned for us by the suffering,\n   death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.\n\n        We give thanks to the LORD for His anger has turned to\n   comfort.  This week we will rejoice with Isaiah, and all of God's\n   redeemed people for the freedom given to us for the sake of the\n   Son of God.\n\n        May our Lord richly bless and keep you as you give Him\n   thanks for all His blessings.
