You\n             shall each take an omer, according to the number\n             of the persons that each of you has in his\n             tent.' ''\n        17   And the people of Israel did so. They gathered,\n             some more, some less.\n        18   But when they measured it with an omer, whoever\n             gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever\n             gathered little had no lack. Each of them gathered\n             as much as he could eat.  (ESV)\n\n        In the morning the children of Israel arose to find a fine,\n   flake-like thing on the ground.  ``What is it?'' they asked.\n        ``This is what the LORD has commanded: `Gather of it,\n        each one of you, as much as he can eat. You shall each\n        take an omer, according to the number of the persons\n        that each of you has in his tent.' '' And the people of\n        Israel did so. They gathered, some more, some less.\n        But when they measured it with an omer, whoever\n        gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever\n        gathered little had no lack. Each of them gathered as\n        much as he could eat.\n\n\n        Our Lord provides for our physical and spiritual needs.  He\n   works through means.  Yes, the manna could have simply appeared\n   in their tents, but by gathering the manna the children of Israel\n   showed their faith in God.\n\n        We gather our manna, not by looking for something on the\n   ground, but by arising, going to work, and using the talents God\n   has given us to earn our daily bread.  That is as much a gift\n   from God as the manna outside the camp.  By faith we trust that\n   God will continue to provide enough for our needs.\n\n        May our Lord grant us the faith to recognize His love,\n   grace, and mercy as He gives to us our daily bread.
