(ESV)\n\n        This weeks readings in the Divine Service at Trinity\n   Lutheran Church focused on the Word of God.  Our Gospel lesson\n   was the familiar Parable of the Sower, where the seed of the Word\n   is scattered on both good ground and bad.\n\n        Our Old Testament lesson comes from the book of Isaiah.\n        For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and\n        do not return there but water the earth, making it\n        bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and\n        bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out\n        from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it\n        shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall\n        succeed in the thing for which I sent it.\n\n\n        We proclaim the Word of God, the good news of salvation by\n   God's love alone, through faith in Jesus Christ alone, in the\n   hope that all people might know of the love of God.  This is the\n   Gospel message, the good news that we have the hope of\n   everlasting life for the sake of Jesus' death and resurrection.\n\n        To prepare us to hear the Gospel, we need to know that we\n   are sinners who are otherwise lost and eternally condemned.
