Watering the Earth - Part 4
Isaiah 55:12-13
02/08/2024
12 For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in
peace; the mountains and the hills before you
shall break forth into singing, and all the trees
of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and
it shall make a name for the LORD, an everlasting
sign that shall not be cut off. (ESV)
The prophet Isaiah wrote:
For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills before you shall break
forth into singing, and all the trees of the field
shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall
come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up
the myrtle; and it shall make a name for the LORD, an
everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
God's Word contains both law and Gospel. As we hear His
law, we are driven to see our sin, and called to repent.
Repentant sinners are shown the Gospel, that there is truly the
forgiveness of our sins for the sake of the suffering, death, and
resurrection of Jesus. Because we are declared holy, righteous,
and not guilty in God's sight, we are given the gift of eternal
life.
Therefore, even when we have troubles, we have the peace of
knowing that we are loved by God. Problems are temporary, the
gift of salvation and God's rich favor are for eternity. Our
focus shifts from this moment of pain and frustration to God's
gift of life everlasting.
Isaiah's view of heaven, his view of eternal life, gives us
comfort even when we are suffering the effects of this sinful
world. We know, because God's Word is true, that He showers us
with His love.
May your find comfort and peace knowing that God has given
you life for the sake of His Son. Amen.
