I Have Compassion - Part 3
Mark 8:4
07/22/2026
4 And his disciples answered him, ``How can one feed
these people with bread here in this desolate
place?'' (ESV)
As Jesus traveled in Galilee and Judea and Samaria, people
followed to learn and to marvel at the miracles He performed. On
one such occasion, the crowd had followed Jesus for three days
and had run out of food. Jesus told His disciples of His
concern. ``And his disciples answered him, `How can one feed
these people with bread here in this desolate place?'''
The disciples, like you and me, were at the same time saint
and sinner. They trusted in Jesus, but they still worried about
the way they would solve this problem. As they looked, all they
saw was the difficulty of finding bread.
Does God provide? Time and again we see His loving hand,
even in times of disaster. Unexpected help arrives, supplies are
found, we discover new ways to use the resources already at hand.
We remember that God works through means, through you and me as
we seek to serve our neighbors, especially in times of trouble
Therefore, we often are part of the answer to the prayer:
O God, whose never-failing providence orders all things
both in heaven and earth, we humbly implore You to put
away from us all hurtful things and to give us those
things that are profitable for us.
May our Lord grant us the strength of faith to love and
serve our neighbors, especially in times of need. Amen.
