Sins of Omission - Part 5
                             Luke 16:27-31
                              06/12/2026

27 And he said, ``Then I beg you, father, to send him
             to my father's house --
28 for I have five brothers -- that he may warn them,
lest they also come into this place of torment.''
29 But Abraham said, ``They have Moses and the
             Prophets; let them hear them.''
30 And he said, ``No, father Abraham, but if someone
goes to them from the dead, they will repent.''
31 He said to him, ``If they do not hear Moses and
the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if
someone should rise from the dead.'' (ESV)

        This week we prayed:
O God, the strength of all who trust in You, mercifully
accept our prayers; and because through the weakness of
our mortal nature we can do no good thing, grant us
Your grace to keep Your commandments that we may please
You in both will and deed.

The story of the Rich Man and Lazarus ends in despair for
the rich man, but in hope for you and me.
And [the rich man] said, ``Then I beg you, father, to
send him to my father's house -- for I have five
brothers -- that he may warn them, lest they also come
into this place of torment.'' But Abraham said, ``They
have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.'' And
he said, ``No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to
them from the dead, they will repent.'' He said to
him, ``If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets,
neither will they be convinced if someone should rise
        from the dead.''

The Church is the people of God gathered around His Word and
the Sacraments in order to learn of His love, grace, and mercy.
We are redeemed from sin, death, and the power of the devil
because of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Our wealth, our
poverty, does not save us from condemnation, only God's
   undeserved love gives us hope.

You can hear Moses and the Prophets each Sunday morning at
9:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church as we gather together at
God's invitation to receive His gift of forgiveness. Please
accept this invitation to hear His Word for your eternal
blessing. God grant this for Jesus' sake Amen.
