Confessing Jesus - Part 5
John 20:30-31
04/17/2026
30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of
the disciples, which are not written in this book;
31 but these are written so that you may believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by
believing you may have life in his name. (ESV)
Last Sunday the Church prayed:
Almighty God, grant that we who have celebrated the
Lord's resurrection may by Your grace confess in our
life and conversation that Jesus is Lord and God.
The ongoing mission of the Church is to proclaim the good
news of salvation from sin, death, and the power of the devil
because of God's love for the sake of the death and resurrection
of Christ Jesus. Our life and conversation proclaim that Jesus
is Lord and God.
We believe, teach, and confess that our redemption is
because of God's grace, not our works. Because we are born in
sin, we do not desire to seek God, but run from Him. Yet, as we
hear the Word of God, as we see the Word joined with the visible
elements of water, of bread and wine, we come to know and trust
in Christ Jesus.
Saint John finished the story of Thomas with the words,
``Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.''
John points us to his eyewitness account of the life and work of
Jesus. Here is the purpose of the Bible, from Genesis to
Revelations.
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the
disciples, which are not written in this book; but
these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is
the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you
may have life in his name.
Please join us at Trinity Lutheran Church each Sunday at
9:00 a.m. to learn more about Christ Jesus so that you also may
have life in His name.
May our Lord grant us faith to trust in Him for life
everlasting. Amen.
